Distance Education

Since 2002, there has been a phenomenal increase in the number of post secondary students enrolled in online schools and online courses at traditional schools. According to a 2013 Sloan Report, Changing Course: Ten Years of Tracking Online Education in the United States (Allen and Seaman), the percentage of post secondary students taking at least one online class has gone from 9.6% for Fall 2002 to 32.0% for Fall 2011. This growth reflects an unprecedented shift in student access to higher education through instructional methodologies that have been enabled by computing and networking technologies.
